La maison Carré is truly a slice of heaven. Liesbet and Jan, your vision and sensibilities have created a space of serenity and comfort. We enjoyed walking around the beautiful village and exploring the ruins, the cemeteries and the trails. It has been three days we will always remember. Thank you for sharing it.

Het heeft onze verwachtingen echt overtroffen. Iedere dag was weer een aangenaam en warm welkom in jullie maison Carré. Het warme welkom en jullie sms-jes hebben ons verblijf onvergetelijk gemaakt.

Wow! What an utterly beautiful house, situated in a gorgeous town. The house has everything that we needed for our two nights stay here and we felt like we were in an idyllic little dream. It was a treat to be able to pop into the river for a little morning swim before going into town for food and some drinks. We loved this stay till the very last minute and Liesbet was super responsive,wanting to make sure things were ok for our arrival. We will definitely be back!
The bottle of fizz was a lovely addition treat to kick off a birthday weekend.

Quel endroit exquis! Le bon goût et le charme de cette maison m'ont enchantée. C'est n'a péable de sentir le soin apperté dans l'aménagement de cette petite tour carrée. Et l'environnement complète le tableau. Le village d'Angles et ses mystérieuses ruines et maisons chargées d'histoire. Douceur et fascination en ces lieux.

Wij boekten jullie huisje met hoge verwachtingen. Per toeval ontdekt op een zaterdagmorgen in een reisverslag in de krant... even overlegd, mailtje gestuurd, onmiddellijk antwoord gekregen en een telefoontje later hadden we een boeking voor twee weken te pakken. Zou het niet te lang zijn???
Toen we in de streek hier naartoe reden wisten we al dat we de goede keuzde hadden gemaakt. En dan moest alles nog beginnen! Jullie innemend en lieve onthaal, de ontdekking van 'La maison Carré', alles aanwezig, prachtig ingericht. En dat allemaal met het mooiste zicht op Angles sur l'Anglin en zijn burcht, op de rustig stromende rivier, op de rustgevende tuin... En we kunnen blijven doorgaan over de prachtige wandelingen in de natuur die we dank zij jullie raad konden maken, de lekkere restaurants en cafeetjes hier in de omgeving, de leuke babbels die we hadden... Nu gaan we met meer heimwee dan normaal terug naar ons eigen stekje. Maar zo dankbaar dat we dit mochten ontdekken!

We've had the most wonderful relaxing and restorative holiday in your beautiful cottage. Owen and I, plus our two dogs have been made to feel so welcome.
The village and walking trails, the local restaurants and surrounding countryside have all been a wonderful experience.
We hope to return in the near future.

Als trouwe bezoekers aan het 'Huisje aan de vijver', moesten we wel eens afzakken naar het schone huisje aan de rivier. Wat een prachtig huisje, wat een prachtig dorp, wat een prachtige wereld! Bedankt om deze eilandjes van rust te voorzien.

Nous avons été ravis de séjourner chez vous, tout y est décoré avec beaucoup de goût. Le village est quant à lui magnifique et chargé d'histoire.

Thank you so much for 'allowing' us into your magnificently renovated, stylish cottage. It has been the best week ever and we've been extra blessed with perfect weather. Many walks, strolls, even a bit of forest-tramping when we became a little lost on our walk to Saint-Pierre-de-Maillé!
Meals under the magnificent Magnolia tree, soft calling of doves, happy dawn birdsong outside the bedroom window, dips into the cool river and a row-boat trip downriver... an idyllic stay wich we shall always remember

Dear Liesbet, dear Jan,

Thank you very much for our time in the beautiful Maison Carré and surroundings! We loved simply being in this beautifully renovated, stylish house, we loved our evening-swims in the refreshing Anglin, sunbathing next to the old mill, eating at the Amaretto or cooking at home with fresh herbs from the garden and walking in nature.

Well rested we head to the atlantic and are thankful for all of your support, caring and hospitality!

We dachten dat je zoiets allen maar kon verzinnen als je over voldoende verbeeldingskracht beschikt, maar zie, het bestaat echt. Geen 'huisje aan de vijver' maar een huis aan de rivier. Misschien komen we nog 'ns terug om ons ervan te vergewissen of we niet gedroomd hebben.

Bedankt voor een enorm fijne week en om dit stukje paradijs met ons te delen. We houden er heel fijne herinneringen aan over, onder andere de brocante-vondsten (top tips) en de mooiste trouwfoto's à l'improviste.
Bedankt en het liefst zouden we nù alweer onze volgende congé hier boeken.

Wat een geweldige tijd hebben we hier gehad!
Het huisje straalt warmte en gastvrijheid uit en het voelde meteen als een thuis ver van huis. Alles is met zoveel zorg ingericht en de rust en schoonheid van de omgeving hebben ons volledig opgeladen.
De ochtenden hier waren magisch : wakker worden met het fluiten van de vogels en het rustgevende ruisen van de rivier op de achtergrond gaf ons elke dag een serene start. Een stukje paradijs waar we nog lang met een glimlach aan zullen terugdenken! We hopen terug te komen naar dit prachtige plekje in Frankrijk.

"Wooow wooow, this is a beautiful place. Originally the river ferry tollman house, it has been renovated beautifully with a lot of taste and attention. Located right on the bank of the river, in a very scenic village full of history and old buildings with lots of exploring to do. The house is very comfortable, the kitchen well equipped for a short stay, good information about the village and area available. The outdoor area by the river is fantastic. Don't pass, highly recommended. We wish we could have stayed longer. The property experienced a flood a few days bedfore we arrived. Liebest communicated very clearly and openly about the situation and it did not cause any disagreement for our stay. This property falls in a special category of "outstanding"."

Angles sur L’Anglin is a popular and vibrant summer destination with spectacular walks, Kaiaking, and the opportunity for some wildlife spotting. Our takeaways from this trip are evenings spent relaxing by Liesbet and Jan’s private little stretch of riverbank, catching sight of Kingfishers and chatting with the locals who were all welcoming and friendly. "Absolutely the best AirBnB we have stayed. Idyllic and peaceful location next to a lazy river that was perfect for swimming. The babbling waters are full of fish and a myriad of dragonflies and butterflies dance over the lily beds. Liedbet and Jan have undertaken a remarkable restoration of the old "toll house" which has been furnished and decorated with sympathy and flair. Nestled in a really pretty village it is a little gem The accomodation is perfect for an able bodied couple who like the countryside, enjoy a little wild swimming and some non radical kayaking/canoeing which is available on the doorstep. Our little dog, Cosmo, shares our views and thoroughy enjoyed his holiday. Our hosts next door were very friendly and helpful. Absolutely a delight."

"Wat een fantastische plek! zelden zo’n mooi gerestaureerd en ingericht huis gezien. Met veel smaak gedecoreerd met een mix aan nieuwe en brocante spullen.
De tuin was heerlijk, met privé strandje. Onze hond kon er naar hartelust rondlopen. We hebben erg lekker geslapen. De kamer was koel en het bed goed. ‘S morgen wakker worden met een kikker en vogel concert was een feest.

Helaas hebben we Liesbet niet gezien maar buurvrouw Iris heeft ons hartelijk ontvangen en rondgeleid. Kortom, heel erg fijn!
